Sebastien Leger

,
I’m excited about this post for a few reasons. First and foremost, I love Sebastien Leger. I feel that he represents an exciting new wave of talent in dance music. Graciously combining elements of house, techno, electro, and minimal; he trounces the boundaries of conventional genres and mashes them into a cauldron of electronic euphoria. But, I am also stoked that the French dj/producer will be playing in my backyard at Set in South Beach tonight. Biz Martinez’s new party, Sundance will pose as a beautiful backdrop to what will surely be a great night of music. Leger’s own Mistakes Music just dropped this totally smooth track entitled Jaguar.

Midnight Madness

The only thing cooler than the Chemical Brothers' music, are the music videos. This is the brand new single off of Brotherhood, a double-disc retrospective slated for release in September.

Girl Talk sounds off

The king of the sound collage, Greg Gillis AKA Girl Talk has a message for all you young thundercats who are posting unauthorized Girl Talk mashup videos. You can run but you can't hide from his team of high-priced, Armani suit-wearing attorneys. I'll be sure to keep you up to date on the litigation that will transpire in the near future. Until then, vibe off this new track as Girl Talk dives face first into a trainwreck of uncleared audio samples that are sure to whip a room full of ultra-colored hipsters into a frenzy.

Surkin x Dave 1

Though I promise that this blog will have no particular format, a glance at the page could make one think otherwise. With posts glaring with religious imagery and Frenchmen, the common reader might think, “this guy only loves God and Parisians.” Well, I guess God is responsible for the whole heavens and the earth thing and the French are responsible for putting out some proper electronic music…so yeah, I guess I’m fond of both. With that in mind, today’s post is fresh from the Institubes camp. Surkin lays out a nicely constructed house gem, laced with an abundance of strings and solid synth work. The vocals are handled by the perennially cool Dave 1, of Chromeo fame. Listen, lather, dance, rinse, and repeat!

And in the beginning, there was...

n. pl. genesis(gen·e·ses)
1. The coming into being of something; the origin.

There are many difficult decisions to make when beginning a music blog. Artistic themes, color schemes, track selection, and overall direction to name a few. To get this thing rolling, I thought I would keep in line with the un-intentional, weird, religous undertones that seem to plague this page. So, here is a fun remix of the Justice track Genesis, baked up by London's Chewy Chocolate Cookies. After ingestion, wait 30 minutes before dancing...swimming rules apply.
