Finally, it has happened to Cece...Yes folks, her track 'Finally' has finally been remixed by every producer to walk the face of this earth. Arriving late to the party are a pair of Netherlands up-and-comers; Bart B More and Oliver Twizt. "Better late than never" I always say, and just when I didn't think I could stomach another mediocre mid-nineties hit remix, you go and do something like this...and TOTALLY redeem yourself!

Just when I thought I was getting over my hard electro phase, this track comes along and sucks me right back in. 33 year old German, Andreas Meid, aka D.I.M lends his mind-bending distortion to New York electro-clash duo, Fischerspooner. A tripped out vocal intro segues directly into a full on audio assault of stabbing synths, hard snare hits, and a bass line so dirty it makes you want to punch a sleeping baby in the face. Don’t worry; no babies were harmed in the making of this post.

Here's what Pitchfork had to say about the mix:
"While it passes the test of a versatile, well-assembled mix-- sounding smooth-flowing as a whole, but varied enough to sound weirdly choppy and jarring if you skip to each successive track after a minute-- FabricLive 41 also has the benefit of boasting two major peaks, one early, one late. The aforementioned "Blind" bleeds its way into the outro of new SMD cut "Simple" (a sharp bit of retro-pop-lock Detroitness), then burbles and crests over seven and a half minutes of epic slow build that firmly anchors down the mix's momentum four tracks in. It's bookended sharply by a manic segue between two mid-90s classics, Plastikman's military drumroll arm-flailer "Spastik" and the insistent panic-attack thump of Green Velvet's "Flash", and the ensuing rattling stampede makes it the ideal climax to a mix that largely builds itself on a indie-friendly revival of predecessors like these. Bambou Banga!

Okay, so I'm not, not currently loving this track! Yeah, yeah I know two of my last four posts have been about Sebastien Leger, but I don't even care...that's how good his music is. His newest Mistakes release, entitled Bambou does not disappoint. This beautiful, stripped-down track is so flowing and dancy. It pretty much sounds like someone is making love to a Marimba in a 4/4 beat. It's very terrace a-la 7 in the morning'esque. I highly recommend the A-side of the EP called Talisman as well. In typical Leger fashion, it takes a bit to build, but the payoff is well worth the wait....and I'm spent.

The Swedish House Mafia is at it again! This time its Steve Angello back with a big room gem just in time for the end of summer. Sure to be bumping Balearic dancefloors in no time, this track features crazy gypsy horn, some subtle percussion, and a rumblin’ bassline…I like! Look for the remixes by Zoo Brazil, Harry Choo Choo Romero, and workaholic Laidback Luke…However, for me, the original remix reigns supreme.

Miami's great Latino hope, Lazaro Casanova released Venganza a few months back. After being championed by the likes of MSTRKRFT, you knew there were also some sick remixes about to drop, and drop they have. Venganza received the royal treatment from Acid Jacks, The House Moguls (who previously turned out a proper mix of One More Time), and Canadian face melter Felix Cartal. Cartal's remix recalls the old Klingon proverb, "revenge is a dish best served cold"...or in the club.

"Holland's beloved house music-loving homeboy, Laidback Luke is on an international mission to rock clubs, win hearts, and top charts." I don't think that there could be a more fitting description for this red-hot Dutch DJ. I'm not sure if Laidback Luke doesn't sleep and makes music to regenerate, or if he bangs out a track in 45 minutes, but this guy's discography reads like a novel. With over 100 recordings in 2006 alone, he is on a breakneck pace to remix every artist...ever. All kidding aside, his talent shines on this number with help from A-Trak. It comes fresh out of the box ready for the dancefloor. A nice crescendo starts things off, and then the bottom falls out; leaving nothing but a well-constructed electro-house-tribal-tech jam. It's that simple. Check it.

I’m excited about this post for a few reasons. First and foremost, I love Sebastien Leger. I feel that he represents an exciting new wave of talent in dance music. Graciously combining elements of house, techno, electro, and minimal; he trounces the boundaries of conventional genres and mashes them into a cauldron of electronic euphoria. But, I am also stoked that the French dj/producer will be playing in my backyard at Set in South Beach tonight. Biz Martinez’s new party, Sundance will pose as a beautiful backdrop to what will surely be a great night of music. Leger’s own Mistakes Music just dropped this totally smooth track entitled Jaguar.

Kissy Gets A Show!

I can't put my finger on why I like Kissy Sell Out so much. I'm not sure if its because he looks like a great guy to chill with, his own brand of electro-crunk party music, the fact that he wears tights, or plays the keytar. The last of which, being something that makes anybody as cool as Miles Davis to me. Well, either way, this UK raver has officially made it, landing his own Rock 'n Rave show on BBC Radio 1 Thursdays from midnight-2am.

Here's what Kissy has to say about his new gig:
"I've been teased most of my life for dressing differently and listening to strange records so when I was first signed by Radio 1 for a monthly slot I decided that I would work as hard as I could to transform those precious two hours into my own personal magical mystery tour of alternative dance music, a seamlessly mixed adventure to celebrate eclecticism, and where the music wasn't exclusively new or old, signed or unsigned but just good and daring to be different."

Though I promise that this blog will have no particular format, a glance at the page could make one think otherwise. With posts glaring with religious imagery and Frenchmen, the common reader might think, “this guy only loves God and Parisians.” Well, I guess God is responsible for the whole heavens and the earth thing and the French are responsible for putting out some proper electronic music…so yeah, I guess I’m fond of both. With that in mind, today’s post is fresh from the Institubes camp. Surkin lays out a nicely constructed house gem, laced with an abundance of strings and solid synth work.
